Cylinder Sleeve replating??? 2002 FX 470

Hi All,

Is cylinder replating a viable option vs replacement? I split the case on my motor and the nikasil is flaking and the piston skirt is defective as a reslult. I also found that there is significant play on both ends of the conecting rod. As it looks right now, I am going to be rebuilding the crank, replacing the piston and replating/replacing the jug, and replacing countershaft bearings and some other items of critical importance.

Yup, one thing is for certain, I love a good project. The funny thing is it ran before I took it apart. Now lets see if I can get it back together.

Last time I looked, a new liner was about the same as a re-plate. You may check the turn around time for a re-plate--they are usually busy this time of year with snowmobile stuff.
 
Cylinder sleeve

I am looking for a shop that is reliable in replating Husaberg sleeves. At this time the shop that has one of two sleeves of mine, and is having a problems when honing to spec. This shop has preformed this on Husaberg sleeves before with no or little problems. So looking for a shop for my second sleeve in case they return my first sleeve not completed or unusable.
