hi all,
i am rebuildig my engine with new rod kit, bearings and stuff.
my dealer here in greece claims that some of the earlier models like mine had no cylinder base gasket.
when i got mine it had one.should i try not to put one on reassembling for a bit more compression or it will leak from underneath like a horny little girl?

thanks in advance

In theory, that is a good idea as it not only increases the compression ratio but also improves the combustion chamber squish band since originally the piston is about 2mm below the top of the deck at TDC. The problem is that the increased slack in the cam chain is probably too much for the chain tensioner to handle, plus it might ****** the cam timing too much. I compromised on my '96 FE600 by making my own cylinder base gasket 1/2 as thick as the original. The thinner base gasket worked out very well with no problems.

thanks for your reply,
i agree with you on this, i have already made my own aluninum gasket.

Since the new gasket is aluminum, make sure to coat both sides with a thin layer of Threebond or Yamabond sealant to prevent oil seepage.
