Cycle World Enduro Survivor Article (And Husaberg Didn't)

In the June 2004 issue of Cycle World they conducted an enduro survivor. It appears that the FE450E they received had a few problems (to include the kickstand breaking off). Here's some of the things they said about it:

"Unhappy with the bike, we took it to a good Husaberg dealer and had them go through it. The checked everything, dialed-in the jetting and gave it back for a second chance of sorts. It would have ranked higher had it been polished like this from the get-go.

Funky, the FE made all kinds of weird noises and needed lots of attention. You'd better have a good Husaberg dealer set this bike up. Too many quirks, too many little things breaking, too much fiddling. Still, there's appeal here for the discrimination dirt freak."

The final four they picked were the Honda CRF250X, the KTM 250 EXC, the KTM 450 EXC, and the Husaqvarna TE450 which came in at number one.

Husaberg should have taken it to Dale before they sent it to Cycle World.

Previously there was a thread concerning the Cycle World test. If you go back in time you will find it. The general consenus was to let the thread go away as plenty was said and BMG asked Dale to oversee the next magazine test. No need to throw salt in an open wound. Mission accomplished! :)

I guess I will have to do a better job in keeping current with what's going on at Husaberg.Org. It looks like I have some reading to do to catch up.

Sorry for the wasted bandwidth.

Hi Evinp,
Given your current address simply taking the time to visit UHE should be considered a compliment by all. Great to hear from you, stay safe and thank you kindly for the vote of confidence.

Best Regards,
Dale

No more posts, let this thread die as well.

Splat,
With all due respect "ignoring the infamous CycleWorld article and related thread is counterproductive". Proper evaluation and discussion of the past can prove a valuable asset while planning the future.

Kind Regards,

quite right lineweaver!

TT is essentially now a USA site, it could have been international but people really didn't like any kind of 'heavy' dialogue and threads get/got locked regularly.

i'm pleased to feel that this site has a nice mid atlantic feel that i hope we can all embrace. certainly the brits will enjoy a good argument! (ok, just me then!) but i thought that that thread was well handled by everyone and without the anon's that we used to have and people didn't say stuff they would later regret.

i think we should give ourselves a pat on the back over that one!

I myself enjoy a passionate debate (Providing ones personal character does not come under attack) and often find such more informative than that of benign small talk.

Ditto on the dead horse thing. Didn't want anybody to feel left out :)

Hi Husabutt,
One can indeed beat a dead horse however their shall be no reaction and therefore not much value in doing so. On the other hand as long as their is a reaction the beatings are likely to continue. :D

I personally do not mind as I believe that out of the lessons learned (lest we forget) the future shall be brighter.

Sincerely,
Dale

If we promise to be good can our reward be no further beatings?
