The road tester,Lawrence Hacking is a very good rider and his opinion is credible. He was a Paris Dakar finisher(privateer) just a few years ago on a XR650r.
When I first saw all the sand in the photos I wondered which desert in Canada they were using. Then the article went on to say testing in Mojave, California.
from what BOSS tells me that is the bike that i bought, love it no vibration, at least i never notice it, the last bike i had (93 KTM 300) vibrated alot, was a little numbing at times. Hope they weren't to hard on it?!
Banger, you're a lucky man, BOSS lovingly prepared that bike in the middle of the night between shots of Pendleton's, and it turned out awesome. Don't worry about Cycle Canada being too hard on it, they only had it for about a day and a half. I'm sure Ricky's break-in hours were much tougher

Back in the early eighties when both Lawrence Hacking and I were a little younger he worked for Yamaha motor Canada. In those days the dealer shows were more fun than the mainly business meeting they have become. It was common practice at that time to dispose of the show bikes at the Toronto city landfill after the dealer show as Yamaha did not want to pay the import tax on the bikes some of which were less internal parts. One on Lawrence's favorite duties was to launch the working show bikes at full throttle(especially Ventures)from the back of the tractor trailer into the pile of rubble(no he was not riding them)........but I am sure he has changed now and would have treated your bike with great respect
well this past weekend was the first time that i had it out in the slop, loved it, handled almost as good as it does when there is premo traction!!! except for the couple of two wheel sidways slides i got into(no crashes).
ive only had it at mCcubbins and east fort rock(but put on 500 miles in, in less them two months) and only have one complaint............ i wish that i could have got it earlier
