Ok guys got bike back rode it home clutch seemed fine. Changed brake pads then rode it without helmet on and can hear a noisey rattle from the clutch type area. Took it back to dealer he thinks??? thinks it might be the Primary Drive nut loose??? It didnt make this noise before i took it in there. Any ideas what it might be?
for peace of mind and a long term happy wallet, get the dealer to check the primary drive-if that comes loose there are a few posts on here that show the eventual consequenses...
While hes in there he can also check basket bearings/ thrust washers and check end float/wear on main shaft bearing too.
Well the dealer checked Primary Drive nut/basket bearings/ thrust washers and they are all fine.
I have asked them to check the endfloat. Which they will do tomorrow.
They are now saying it may be the big end.
What should I have checked?
They are talking about wanting to split the cases etc to find out what the noise is?
I'd be suprised (and a bit dissapointed) if you were up for a big end so soon- but strange things happen :?:
Has the LHS engine cover been off the bike at all in its life ??. There is a little oil gallery between LHS engine case and LHS engine cover that can get blocked by the gasket and/or sealant and deprive the big end of pressure fed lubricant..............
Youve done clutch work recently but I presume only the small clutch cover was removed ?, not the whole LHS engine cover ??
no they took the large clutch cover off as well upon my request on what the noise was and could not see anything there wrong.
As far as I know the LHS Cover has never been off in its life until my request.
I had the new steel clutch plates put in and then rode it home. After that it sat in shed i changed brake pads and then started it up and could hear it was a little noisy put it on trailer and took it too dealer. And here we are ....
remove the bolt and the spring at the rear of the tensioner , then remove the 2 bolts that hold the tensioner in place .full extension of the rod means replacement of the chain .
