Yesterday I dropped the bike at 0 mph and it happened to hit a branch and shatter my headlight.

Is my only choice to spend 110 dollars on a headlight? Or can I get a replacement glass?

When you get that headlight fixed, something we do here is to place a 1/4 inch piece of plexiglass over the headlight lens to protect it. It is very simple and saves you lots of money in the long run. Here's how we do it.

First cut a piece of plexiglass a little larger than the glass lens of your headlight. Next using a small drill bit, drill two holes in each corner of the plexiglass and two matching holes in the number plate corners beside your headlamp. Cut four 1/4 inch length pieces of fuel line, and get four small zip ties.

Take each zip tie, and feed it through a hole in the number plate from behind the number plate, through a piece of fuel line, through the corresponding hole on the plexiglass, back through the other hole in the plexiglass on the same corner, back through the fuel line, through the other hole on the corner of the numberplate, and cinch the zip tie tight.

What you should end up with is a clear plexiglass cover approximately 1/4 inch in front of that glass headlamp lens which will keep the glass protected for years and save you money for more important parts that will make you go faster.

Is the headlight on the husaberg the same as on the newer ktm's?

I see the replacement on the husaberg is 120 bucks, the one for the ktm is 70. Both look to be the exact same...

Ok everyone. I went to my local dealer yesterday and can confirm that the headlight from a 2006 KTM is the same as the one for the 09-12 FE 4st. The part is identical, yet the msrp is about 35 dollars cheaper. EXACT SAME PART.

I got mine. All better now. I think I spent about 80 bucks on the light.

This thread is GOLD. I wanted a perspex headlight protector for my 2012 FE450, the company in Oz didn't have any moulds for the Husabergs......
They DO have them for the '06 KTMs, so I've ordered one.

I'm reading btn the lines here and hoping it fits...!

(Australian Motorcycle Headlight Protectors if anyone wants to google it, about $40 I think)

What I have always done is go down the auto shop and get "louver locks". They are little plastic clip sets 20cents for 6 etc. One pars sticks with self adhesive to the light. The other part you use a big blade screw driver to turn and lock it in. The turn lock bit you put through the holes of the clear plastic you have cut to size. This allows a gap big enough between the light and the protector to allow water to flow through and the perspects to bend when big rocks get fired at it. You can easily take it off when washing the bike. If there was something better I would buy it, but this is best.
