correct way to skim the block of husey?

how do you ensure that the spigot and case are machined evenly and correctly?

PS; in the end they had to be machined seperately.

Hi Taffy,
Liner protrusion in the neighborhood of .13 mm is not a problem and often proves of advantage.

If one must adjust the protrusion may I suggest (from experience) removing material from beneath the liner flange in order to prevent chipping the bore plating.

Insuring the case tops are flat is as you mentioned a simple issue of milling.

If the liner flange is warped beyond limit one may reduce bore chipping while turning the top by sanding a chamfer on the upper bore edge prior to the machining process.

should the linar 'naturally' protrude or should it stay as is and be flat?

.13mm = .005" or as we would say "5 thou".

Flush to .13 mm proud is considered normal. I would address anything more than .2 mm.
