Looking to lower my bike about 1.5" I know after trying to set the sag that the spring is to stiff. What is the correct spring to order for my 2001 husaberg fx470e.I am 5"6" 165 lbs.The spring I have now is a PDS 7-265..

Hey Pete, glad you made it home safe and I hope you enjoy the bike.

Racetech has pretty good spring rate calculators online. For the front they recommend .449 springs for 165lb desert rider. Should be close to what is in there.

For the rear spring they refer you to this link

http://www.racetech.com/evalving/Spring ... Type=Shock

showing KTM PDS spring charts. They recommend a progressive rate spring on the KTM, but the Berg PDS seems to work better.

I would suggest taking Berger's advice and contacting John at Palo Verde Suspension. He can take care of the lowering and spring at the same time

mrk3cobra,

When you are setting your bike suspension remember to factor all your riding gear into your overall weight. You may be 165 dripping wet out of the shower but add 10lbs of water into a camelpac, boots, and helmet not to mention all the other gear you may have on and you'll probably be closer to 185 or 190lbs. I carry all my tools in my camelpac and that thing weighs about 15 pounds all by itself. I weigh 185 but in full gear probably tip the scales at about 205 or 210 ::oops:

Regards,

can i ask someone here to describe the codes on the shocks for variable and straight rate? also what weight is meant to suit what and which application? i would like to stick it in the doc.

also besides the graphs that we can ALL access i would like to know what we run and the preload.

i'll start by saying i rn the standard rear spring for my 205lbs (94 kilos) and it has 1mm preload. i think it's a 76/90 260. the 260 being the spring length.

regards

Taffy
