Hi all,my first post,i am considering buying the above model and although I have found some internet info it's '08 era,
what should I look for?
what's the pit falls and known issues.
Are they sweet handling or a bit heavy etc.
my present ride is a Beta 300 Rr 2 stroke which I really like and this bike would be an additional bike, probably for mainly trail riding / greenlaning,I doubt I'd race it as the Beta is my racing choice,
do they ride like a KTM450 exc of the same era? power delivery etc as I have ridden a couple of them .
are they pigs compared to the 70 degree 09 bikes for example.thanks in advance

should be fine, not the same as a KTM 450, very subtly different.
not sure what you mean by the 70d being pigs. we found them (the 70d) fine.

they are a good green laning bike.

In my rare opinion i liked The force model better then the 70 degree in fast trails as an enduro. But i like my 2011 better at gravel and ice.
Ktms 450 feels heavier for me and bigger. So more suitable for tall fellas and maybe more gravel.

This is just my feel for em. Ride em yourself and compare.

I don't mean the 70d are pigs I mean is the 70d bike a sweeter handling bike.I like 2 strokes but I think 4t probably make better all round greenlaners, but 4T's are heavier to lug around than 2T's ,some 4T's feel heavier than others so I wanted to know is the older model is good in the knarley stuff as we ride a lot of single track and dense woodland type terrain,I like a bike to have lots of low down grunt to float the front up over rutts, standing water and small fallen tree trunks like I can on my 300RR,it's no good to me having an engine that has to be spinning hard to get into the kind of response I like as it will be going too fast by then.
I don't want the extra lay out £££ wise to get a 70d bike as I won't be using it much and just fancy having it for when I want a lazy day.

I just got an 08 fe450 a few weeks ago, absolutely love it. It is a fair amount of bike to throw around but the power it delivers is nothing short of fantastic. I'm a big guy and I can lift the front end up through 4th gear with just a flick of the wrist. If your looking for low end power I'd highly recommend it, that being said without a rekluse clutch I don't think it would be the ideal timber riding bike.

I wouldn't call the 450 a torq-ey bike. bt they will sure lift the front wheel.

with green laning, I'm sure youd agree that you want the bike to do as much work as it can. they are quite light and the steering is light.

there is usually two options of TC: 18 or 20mm offset. look across the clamps and see if you get that choice?

I love mine. Powerful but not unwieldy like my 650s are. Frankly, I put in faster lap times on my 450 due to it's smooth power delivery. My .02
