Coil or Stator

Heres a question for you guys, and you Sparks. I have just fitted a rewound stator to my 02/03 fe501 - not one of Sparks'. My previous stator was open circuit red - black , just happened all of a sudden ,was running fine ,parked it in the shed & next time I went to start it - nothing. The replacement stator had all the right ohms readings prior to fitting and I fitted it up , guessed the timing and it started first kick. I left the bike overnight and pulled it apart again to re-assemble with locktite etc the next day but it wouldn't start. The stator readings have gone crazy ( 18 ohms red/black) and I think my multi-meter is playing tricks on me. I had no spark last time but today further investigation showed spark , but after it fired first kick again it , the engine stopped, presumably not timed correct and cold. But now I have no Spark again - have I got trouble with my coil ? have I wasted more money on this curse called Husaberg and another faulty stator has come my way ?
Remember everyone , this was NOT one of Sparks' stators. I only got it because it was available to me the same day I asked for one and I didn't have to wait.
Thanks Guys....

can't answer the electrical side but i can say that you should have a strobe ready on stand by so that if and when you get it started again YOU MUST DO THE TIMING IMMEDIATELY!

remember that your spark plug can't cope after all this starting and stopping and this will be half the reason you have poor starting. GET IT OUT THE SHED AND RIDE IT!

Hi Boris,

Sorry to here that the gremlin still seems to be in there some where, a stator will not cause the cdi to go defunked and visa versa.
Bad connections are another matter this can cause cdi problems especially the black earth wire from the cdi make sure it is well grouned.Putting a running bike away and getting it out the next day to find the stator has gone is no supprise to me I have known this happen on quite a few occasions, I think it is due to the expansion and contraction theory and eventually the fine wire brakes, but I'm hoping the way I connect and support the windings beneath the red potting this won't happen to me.
Recheck all your connections Boris and try again and make sure your multi meter is working correctly.
Failing that you could end both stator and coil over and I could run them up on the rig to see what the out come would be.
Who did the rewind do you know?.
Let us know how you get on.

Regards

Sparks.
