we had a intense discussion in the german forum about this topic.
I heard that KTM recommends an upgrade to this sealed bearings.
My first thought was that this must be rubbish.
Yes Bobzilla, you´re right, the area around the camshaft bearings is really oiled well.
But KTM means that the filth particles in your oil shouldn´t come in contact with your balls (from the bearing)....
so they use sealed bearings.

But my opinion is still that there´s really no technical reason for that.
A sealed bearing is filled with grease. But the bearing is getting warmer because of friction and the grease could become fluid and maybe runs out....
Maybe it lasts the same time, but the costs are a bit higher.
Maybe KTM purchases these bearings for a lower price in quantities about 100000 pieces...
I don´´t know.
I wouldn´t "upgrade" may engine with that.
