Clutch squealing like a pig!

Went riding today - beautiful day.

I have a Rekluse.

Several times the clutch squealed or screeched - you probably know the sound. My Ducati does it from time to time if I am slipping the clutch on a steep hill. Never heard this from a wet clutch bike.

It made the sound when starting from a stop, but not always.

Interesting that the sound seemed to come from the left side - I thought the discs were on the right side.

Mobil 1 automotive oil? If it is that's a no-no. Automotive oil has additives that don't agree with your cluctch. I've been using MOTUL 20W50 for years without issue.

No - it has the SM, SL/CF ratings - not the 'energy saver' friction modifiers that are bad for wet clutches. I was very careful about not getting oil with the friction modifiers - i.e., "energy saver" oil.

It is probably the fact that the bike has a Rekluse and this is a full synthetic.

I'll dump the oil and use partial synthetic or full dino.

I dumped about a liter of the synthetic and put in some dino juice.

I haven't had a chance to trail ride, but I did ride it a little in the neighborhood and abused it a little by trying to slip it while stopped on a hill and no squealing.

I get the eerie clutch squeal from time to time until the motor is warmed up. 5W-50 or 0W-40 Mobil 1 + recluse. I'm not worried at all.

When installing your Rekluse, did you install the anti squeal washers? They are three tiny beveled washers. They will prevent the irritating squeal. Rekluse recommends Rotella Dino oil when using their clutch.

I had the same problem in my 390. At the time I was running Rottella T and switched back to the Delo 400 that I had always used in the past and the problem went away. I have always run the Delo 400 with no issues what so ever.

Oil type will effect the squeal, no doubt. Amazing how quickly just about any thread can turn into an "Oil Thread". I love it.

Don't think so. Had the dealer shop do it. I don't have a shop or the tools - just the know how. Funny thing - my neighbor noticed on google maps that if you look at my place, that you can see me in the yard working on my bike.

Hi Guys,
Got up early this morning to go for a ride while it was nice and quite to
avoid the traffic and have a bit of a listen to how things were running.

What I did noticed was while breaking with clutch still engaged (lever out)
there is quite a noise from the engine? It sounds like the front tyre
chirping, which I had always assumed it was, but if I break with the
clutch disengaged (lever in) there is no sound.

I have a new chain and sprockets so should not be that.
I am guessing it has something to do with the clutch?

Also never liked the Magura hydro clutch, has to wider range of movement
between engagement and disengagement for my liking.
Might have to get me a radial master unit with a larger dia piston
to cut the range down.
