can anyone help me. ive got a fs 650 06 model and ive just changed the clutch plates as the old ones had gone but before they did they were slipping in higher gears as i was putting the power on , I just put this down to the clutch being knackered but now with the new plates in im having the same trouble. i think ive got 10 40 putoline oil in and its fresh in . starting to become a problem trying to over take in higher gears now.

Did you soak the plates before putting them in? did you measure the free length of the old clutch springs?

please measure the width of the clutch plates as a pack? 8 steel and 7 friction?

also, measure the width of the frictions for me?

have you a washer between the back of the basket and the gearbox?

I will measure them over ther weekend.yer it was an 8 and a 7,I bought the plates etc from you a while back taffy jus havnt had the bike running for a while.its a stm slipper clutch aswel if that makes a difference and I soaked them for a day in oil.I get back with the messurements

Thanks Greg

well if they are plates from me they will be good but the next question will be whether you have the STM set-up correctly?

It's set up as I bought it at the mo.is it something id have to take it in for or can I do it myself?

there are SM boys here that recall better than me but I think we did an engine with an early STM slipper in November last year and we had to have a 28-34mm or so allen key made! but my memory is vague on that one so you'll just have to see!

hello mate did you change the clutch plates ? did you measure the clutch pack coz its got to be 23.6 + or - 0.3mm if thats right .did you do the inner hub nut up too tight i think there 120nm and the internal hex is 40 to 48nm did you back the clutch leaver adjuster right back so there only just no clutch drag . if its still slipping id check what weight secondary spring youve got i think they range from 30 kg up to 70 kg . or give andy at hm racing a ring .

Thanks for the help, ended up taking it in 2 Dave clarkes and the back plate on the stm clutch had a big crack in it so back 2 a standard clutch, not good.can you buy jus the back plate for these easy enough? I heard ther expensive
