Clutch Problems????

Okay, sooooo, I think I might possibly have a problem (huh?)....Anywayz.
went for a ride this weekend, I noticed that on the big 650 I tend to work the living **** out of the clutch.....

early in the morning.....start her up....NO PROBLEM....slip into gear...NO PROBLEM....and as i gently remove the cluth and give some gas, i hear the GOD AWFULL METAL ON METAL NOISE, can't quite explain it...er...GRRRRRRRRRR type of sound....almost like a seriously creaky door......when i start to release the clutch and pull away.....what could this be? Mineral oil low? (I hope) hmmmmmm. probably happened only 2-3 times during the long 5 hour ride!

I find that i keep the throttle way up and kinda control the power with the clucth...is this bad form?

Please Help!
I want to prevent, not replace!

well, now, we may be on to something here. prolly that same noise heard from the sailor getting hit with the "cat o nine tails"

They(bergs) all make that noise, inherent to the design. If you are not agressively slipping the clutch it doesn't do it. Just sounds awful though.

Mine did that noise alot when new. I think it has to do with the type of clutch plate materials used. Different oils make a difference too.
Another method of reducing the noise is to get the engine oil hot, cable tie the clutch lever on and leave the bike lying on its left hand
side overnight

thanks, wil try it, I'm just glad that my clutch isn't destroyed!!!! This is an AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME Website.....but can cause i bit of paranoia!!!...........but that's what they say about cocaine?!?!?!

Thanks for the replies......bleed and replace mineral oil anyway!!!!
