Guys i'm new husabergs and the forum, I pickup a 2008 FE450 with 590km and 14hours in great nick.

after a gap of 15 years out of the saddle i'm very happy with my bike apart some clutch noise taking off in first gear!

the clutch isnt slipping, can someone point me in the right direction?? is it the clutch oil??

it means the clutch is working good, there are no judder plates in the berg clutch

if it stops making that noise the steel plates are usually warped.
 
Yeah I remember that noise when I rode my mates 2008 450. Almost like a metal to metal noise/squeal. I don't hear it in the 2010 model.
My mates has done it since it was brand new.

Where did you buy it from.

Where are you at. (helps if you put it in your sig.)

Change the oil, first thing, then you will find the noise is gone. Have a look around here for the clutch noise an oil to use.
 
Clutch noise creates the headache some times. While driving for a few mile the clutch start to make a terrible noise which is a normal problem. Some times the clutch disc starts to rub when it is released. Clutch noise also occur due to oil. Proper engine and its transmission may reduce the problem of the clutch noise.
 
some ricer burner addict guys ask me why my clutch is so noisy.. its not really. I'm sure some of the noise that comes from the clutch basket is related to the cam drive gear being driven by the clutch basket gear. the fluctuating loads make the gears chatter a little and it gets amplified through the basket.

I noticed a difference in "clutch noise" going from a nice LX2 cam to the stock 08. most bikes have the cam chain drive gear mounted on the crank so the fluctuations iun the cam drive chain can't casue chattering teeth.

check that you have cam chain tensioner clicks left by removing the middle bolt first and then the outside two.

It's the pressure plate bearing making that noise I think?

they upgraded the pressure plate three years on the trot in '06, '07 and '08 so they might have been chasing that noise?

How many clicks should be left on the cam chain adjuster before anything needs to be replaced. What usually needs to be replaced, the cam chain or the tension-er block or both?

how long is a piece of string?

if you have clicks left then that means the chain is under tension and all is good. Many engines rattle when the tension has gone-especially on the 2001-2003 engines with the old white blades.

The engine, gearbox and clutch all share the same oil.

I have been running Motorex PowerSynt since new (up to 73 hrs now) but have just switched to Delo400 available from Caltex service stations for ~$12/liter. Lots of guys here swear by Delo400 so I decided to give it a go.
