hey taffy,

thanks for explaining the whole issue in detail! really appreciated.

So I definitely have no dragging then. My bike doesn't roll when in 1st gear. But nevertheless, sometimes it's really hard to go back in neutral... and other times not. Rolling the bike forwards usually helps to solve this problem.
As for the howl, I will follow your advise to put the bike on its left side and see how that goes.

Cheers!

Alex

well you probably do have a little drag but not enough to drive you forwards but enough to stop the plates moving left or right.

look

10 men are lined against the wall and the wall is vertically corrugated. the guys have to leave the wall to the left or right by getting over each ripple best they can. whats stopping them? 7 fireman with firehydrants going flat-out.

now you get in the deep of a ripple, how are you going to get out with all that force at your back?

ya dig dude?

can't can you?

and now you're really confused.

Try to rev it a few quick bursts while going in neutral, the vibrations will help you to find the neutral notch and maybe the oil in the clutch heats up a bit too ( and getting thinner =less drag). Helps most of the times.
