Hello.
Is there any kit to change from hydraulic clutch to wire operated?
The bike is a FC 501 -00

Hello Jampe

I have just gone the other way here. I had a customer from Chekoslovakia come here with a lunched '99 and a rod making a guest appearance. he also brought in a set of 2000 cases so I re-assembled using the 2000 bottom end and yesterday we converted to hydraulic clutch.

note: the clutch rods are way different and the hydraulic needs a lot shorter rod.
but i can't see where you are going to place the cable pull etc.

why are you so unhappy with the hydraulic?

I have the longer rod here and also the handlebar lever and cable.

Hello Taffy.
I think the hydraulic clutch are just like the opposite sex, somtimes everything is perfekt and next time they don`t work as supposed ;-)

Hard to get the air out and more components that can failure is my biggest concern.

hard to get the air out
take it off the engine, swing it out and up 'til the hose is all uphill from the master cyl, hold the center piston in place and bleed from this position.

Have done that too, going to change the brakefluid to fork oil 10w instead and see if that helps.

since you used brake fluid at some time maybe your seals are gone.
symptoms are the same as the system has air in it.

ya, what he said. you're only supposed to use magura oil in the clutch.

the return spring in the master cylinder broke on mine, worked sometimes not others depending on if the coils jamed up or slipped over

I use Bartran HV15 in the clutch

Njaaa...
There are syntetic and mineral brake fluid, if it says oil than why don`t they write the viscosity it should be?
5-50W ;-)

on the top cap it says, mineral oil only( not brake fluid).

as previously mentioned the brake and clutch M/Cs will take either but the rubber 'anti-slosh' rubber inside must be the one for the job and I'm told they are earmarked as mineral or brake or some such indication.

the mineral starts to dissolve if touched by brake fluid.

Working now.
Cleaned the master cylinder, hose and slave cylinder and it was dirty oil in there.
Had a syringe and filled it up backwards with mineral 10w forkoil.
Opened the airscrew little after i had some tape on the treads and pushed the oil up backwards.
When there was no air more in the master cylinder i closed the air screw.

Thanks for the help.
