Clutch adjustment? is there a way

Is there anything to do to adjust the clutch. I can bleed or add oil to the clutch reservoir but I don't know any thing else to do.. so if you help me I'll be glad..

I added some oil but even though pulling the lever till the end the clutch doesn't disengage properly and it creeps in the first gear..

thanks,

i think you need to 'blue print' everything!

check the plates are DEAD FLAT on a surface guage. look for one plate that's slightly warped.

turn them around and move the outer plates in and the inner plates out!

you did use mineral oil didn't you?

i had this problem and it turned out to be that the plates were cutting grooves into the inner drum. after two seasons i replaced the inner drum and i can still find neutral fairly easily two years later!

anything else :D :D :D

Thankyou Taffy for the info,

I think I'll spend more time working on this bike than riding it

Lucky for you inspecting the clutch componants on that bike is easy and straight forward. You should be able to do it in less than an hour.

This bike looks quite new, chance may be that it has been sitting for some time and the clutch plates are all not completely freeing.I would take it for a good run and use the clutch more than you usually would. Then change the oil. Also ensure you have the correct freeplay at the clutch lever.....nsman

You can not bleed the clutch from the master cylinder you need to push the fluid back through the slave cylinder to the master cylinder. there is a special tool available from Husaberg, KTM, or Magura. I would try this before I rip into the clutch.

GOOD LUCK BRO

mdogruc,

I have the same exact problem that you described in your post on my '02 FC550. I just broke my kickstart shaft the other day and now have the sidecover off and clutch out. I am going to do as Taff recommended and swap the inner and outer disks around. Also, I am going to bleed the hydraulic fluid and replace with new fresh juice. I wont be able to post my findings for at least a week as I will be ordering my kickstart shaft next early next week for install after it arrives. Keep us posted on your findings and the final resolution to your problem as I may very well follow your lead on this one.

Regards,

I checked the clutch plates today and find out the reason.. taffy was right on his guess.. one of the plates was warped (the metal one, not the friction plate)..

I changed its place and put it somewhere in the middle.. it doesn't help, still creeping.. I mean pulling the clutch lever all the way down in the first gear my bike can climb slight uphill :)..

The only solution is ordering a new plate..

So sandskipper order a plate today :)

My plate arrived and I replaced it with the warped one.. now the creeping problem is %90 gone but still having hard time finding the neutral gear while the engine is running.

here is the pics of warped clutch plate
