SLIPPERY MUD! LOTS OF IT! :D Went there today, Berg ran flawlessly. Started first hit of the button every time i looped it out  I climbed hills that i thought would have been impossible in the mud we had. my riding buddies were very impressed with the berg (they new it could not have been my skill! ) It was VERY cold (windchill) , and very WET. On the ridges the wind was probaby at about 40-50 steady and gusts up to 60-70- I could not stay on the bike for any length of time. It was so strong you litteraly were blown sideways while traving forward because the mud was so slippery. rained all last night up until about 10 a.m. then let up for a bit. Rained like crazy from about noon until we left at 3:30. But hey, it was WAY better than going to work.

hey brett,

I just rode with some guys i know here locally, A couple of KTM guys and a couple Yami lovers. I am by far the weakest rider of the group. These guys have been riding for 25-30+ years as opposed to my 2+ years on a dirt bike. I started this dirt bike thing on a borrowed xr 400 a few years ago, then stepped up to a 98 fe600e, now I am on this '02 fc470e. They are slowly but surely becoming fans of the brand. they have all ridden it and have nothing but accolades for it. I have yet to see another Berg on the trail in the central valley. My riding buddies had never seen one out in the wild either until I showed up with my '98 hopefully that will change once D&H in modesto starts moving some.

It is all a matter of time ... I've got the motor for my 97 FE501e finally together (one of the valve adjustment screws broke, fell into the timing chain shaft, cut the timing chain, you get the picture ...), and the bike puzzle got completed int the afternoon of the 26th ... It runs strong, all there is left to do is to get her out on the trails!

Hey Franz,

Question, Are you the guy who came to look at my '98 in Oct? I am glad to hear your '97 is up and running. I think we met again at the Merced Dirt Riders meeting last month. I wish i could be more active with that club.. but most events are held on sundays and that day is not for riding in our family... (though I have been known to sneak a day here and there when the wife was out of town... 8) )

hope you enjoy your Berg. I'll P.M. you the next time i go riding, possibly you would like to come along and show us a few things.

Yes, I am the one ... Let me know next time when you are about to go for a ride ...

Franz
