I have my bike apart and decided to check the tank for the infamous white powder and low and behold, there is a whitish substance on the inside of the tank.
I can wipe it off with my finger but it will not come off by shaking the gas in the tank and I wonder if I need to get it out of there and how. :?

If it won't come off by sloshing petrol around in the tank then it's obviously not going to get through the pump & filters to the injector so I wouldn't worry about it. Of more importance is to get rid of any loose crap floating round in there that could block the pump etc.

Yes, by all means get that stuff out. I read over in the 'Berg forum on KTMTalk that rubbing alcohol works well for cleaning the "goo" out of the filter and tank.

Nobody really seems to know what this stuff is. I think it is mold release from when the tank was made. One guy had .8 hours on his bike and had never even added gas yet, and his prefilter was completely plugged.

Per my dealer, it might be lithium grease that was put on the cap O-ring to keep it from drying out, but shouldn't be that much. While I noticed a little bit of it, I've got 4.5 hours on the bike with no problems yet.
