chokeless MK1 FCR jetting.

got a MK1 FCR with no choke circuit, the bike starts and runs well hot or cold apart from being a bit lumpy with a tiny amount of throttle on...... the jet sizes are as follows;

Main 152
Pilot 62......... seems enormous compared to what i've seen in the docs.
Main air jet 200
Pilot air jet 1 1/4 turns
needle OCELR
air screw 1 1/4 turns.

Do the chokelss FCR's need to run the same size PJ as the rest?

Any help advice welcome,

cheers carl

if you can get the full APJ working then that will do for choke and be pretty ineffective at low revs. you'll squirt it 4-5 times and it'll start.

then you can change that PJ down to whatever you want but 40 is good start. to be honest, with the exception of the MJ there is nothing right about your jetting. look in the doc and start all over again.

Hi Carl, I've been going through the same thing. Check out this thread. http://www.husaberg.org/index.php?name= ... ic&t=10115

I recomend Taffys jet kit which has worked well for me on my 400.

Not sure what bike you have but I found that when I fitted a 38 PJ (down from a 70) the bike would not start cold untill I figured out that there was no choke circuit on my carb and that I needed to use the APJ to richen it for cold starting.

Currently I have to give it a few squirts from the AP and then catch it on the trottle and keep it reving for a few minutes to warm it up. Runs great after that.

The smaller PJ has got rid of some high idle issues I was having. I also found that 3/8 on the PAS was a little too rich and have found 1/2 to 5/8 works better at the moment. It's a work in progress.

I still have some tweaking to do to get it spot on with the jetting I reckon but to answer your question I'd say that the same jets are required with or with out choke.

Hi Loz,

The richness you experiencing at 3/8 of a turn on PAS is due to over richness on the needle straight, go leaner by one letter, this will clean up the bottom end and make transition from pilot to needle a lot better.
You can then run the PAS at 3/8 of a turn out.

Sparks.

i'll send loz another needle to try if he PMs me his address. steve and i talk quite a bit and i can trust his veiws so this is the route i'll take. if you ask why i need a little support for a so called expert when it's because i didn't have a standard bike after popint 'X' so we are just a little further on.

helps the tuned riders but not always a std bike.

Taffy

Cheers guys, just blown my jetting money on a rear wheel so will have to wait a while....... at least i can get offroad and see how the jetting there.

Cheers Sparks & Taffy,

Not sure I'm ready to try a new needle just yet. I put this one in on clip 3 and haven't even tried changing that yet.

I put in Taffys jet kit and once I figured out that it wouldn't start cos it has no choke  and dialed in the PAJ and PS it has run pretty well and is certainly a big improvement over my old setup.

I need to get out for a test day (boring but necessary) to see what other improvements can be found. Ive been riding lot lately setting out a cross country event course and just haven't had the time to do it yet. Having said that I just got home from the event and had a great ride. The bike ran really well all weekend so I'm feeling like Im a good 80% there now.
