charging question/problem

problem:
i installed a baja designs dual sport kit on my 02 fx470 and am not getting charging voltage.

the rectifier reg they gave me has four leads. two yellow that are labled stator. a red and black that go across the battery. the lights and everything run off the battery. so I connected my two yellow stator leads to the stator inputs to the rect/reg and i'm not getting proper voltage out of my DC leads. with a fluke I measure 3 VDC and some AC too like 7 V.

sounds like the rect/reg isn't working right (i checked the V out of each stator output and it seems to be ok at 30V or so) but i wonder if i'm missing something....I know there must be a phase difference between the yellow stator leads but i don't know if that matters..

Hi Doug,

You have to wire this Reg/Rec slightly different to the standard Husaberg wiring, Clip off the two connectors from the Yellow leads from the stator, bare them back twist them together and fit them both into one connector, connect this to one of the Yellows from the Reg/Rec and connect the Blue to the other Yellow. You are now pulling the full potential power from the alternator to charge the battery.
Let me know how it goes.

Regards

Sparks.

that did it. 13.4 volts max, 12.7 or so at idle. thanks sparks. btw about how long does it take to get a re-wind? i'm thinking about a premptive strike.
