Hi every body and a happy new year. My bike is currently suffering post Christmas depression and has decided not to charge the battery. The DC out put to the battery is 8v and doesn't pick up with revs, similarly the AC volts to the head light are about the same 8vac, the lights are unsurprisingly very dim and take a second to come on once the switch is switched on.
i have done some ohms checks on the stator and the results are thus;
yellow to ground = 1 Ohm
white to ground= 1 Ohm
white to yellow wire =0 Ohm
To my mind this indicates a short in the larger of the two windings(on the white wire side) as the resistance should be greater from white to earth than yellow to earth. would any one agree with me on this? or am i barking up the wrong tree. the stator is the same as the KTM one shown in fig 2 of the AC to DC download, the bike is a fe550 08, and i think it was made on a Friday,
cheers,
Jockular.
