Changing Wheel Size on speedo head

Good evening to one and all, i'm after some help, just sourced a set of 17" super moto wheels and tyres for my beloved 450 FE, it has been running the standard off road set up i.e 21" front wheel.

The speedo head is set up to the 21" wheel and is calibrated to 2205mm the circumference of that wheel, the 17" wheel and tyre has a circumference of 1825mm.

I have read through the owners manual but can't find how to change the speedo head to read 1825 instead of 2205, so you can guess what i'm after YES does anybody know how to do it or a link that will give me the correct sequence.

Thanks Berg999

Hi Berg,

It's all in the Doc, I put a write up on it a few years ago.

I posted this in the sumo section a few days ago.

Last night i had a look at my 05 fs650e instruments. I had read about disconecting the black wire to access ws function. Aneway, unhook the three wire connection for a second, then plug in(not all the way) at an angle so that the black wire doesnt touch. As soon as you can, hold the function button down while it goes threw startup and wait for the program mode. Look for a ws on far left. Let go of button and push untill ws flashes. My half worn pilot power measured 72" = 1829mm. I used tape on the sidewall and measured the circ. by rolling the bike in the garage. I got it after a dozen trys but when plugging in fully it went off and on again and reset to default(1882) It took a few more attempts to get it to show ws on the menu, but all said, about 15 minits.

Hey folks,

I'm having trouble resetting the wheel size on my berg. I've followed the steps above but i can't seem to get it to work.

Once i get into the mode menu i cant seem to select WS, it never seems to appear on the screen!

Can someone please help.

Thanks

Mark

mark, year and model and where are you?

Edit**
Next time, I'm trying it as described here:

http://www.supermotojunkie.com/showthre ... e-settings

If you can get access to the wheel size function, the best way to get good accuracy is to chalk your tire and the ground, then roll the bike three full rotations.
Measure the distance, divide by three and convert to mm if neccesary then set it to that number. Good luck. . .

Idle the bike is a 2007 Fe550e. Was in enduro spec but has now been converted to SM.

I followed sparks guide by disconnecting the 3 wire plug and main battery and tried to cycle through the menu to get to WS but it never ever came up as an option.

I'm based in N.Ireland.

Thanks

Mark
