Changing map settings without the switch

I am not sure about the method you described.

You can do this:
Get a connector with some wire on it that suits the Map Switch plug on the Bike Wiring Harness. I found one on the Knock Sensor wiring loom on a Chev LS1 V8 Engine.
Buy a 6.8K Ohm 1/4 or 1/2 Watt Resistor 5% tolerance. The resistor should have these color bands on it, in this order Blue, Grey, Red, Gold.
Solder the resistor across the 2 wires. First bend one of the wires back around so the resistor runs the same direction as the wire (resistor parallel to the wire). This will makes it easy to tape up for protection.
Protect the resistor with some tape or heat shrink tubing (or both).
With this setup, plugged in you get Aggressive and unplugged you get Standard.


Personally, I would use a 15K Ohm Resistor as this would set it to more my riding style, soft :?

Davo is correct, the maps are changed by the resistance in the circuit provided. Thats how the 70* map switch works. Its only $59 btw

A simple on/off Switch will give you Standard or Agressive mode

I thought of a better way to wire an on/off Switch as a Map Switch. I figure you would only need Aggressive and Soft. I don't see a need for Standard.


Aggressive for riding after 2 x Bourbon and Cokes
Soft for all other riding.

After fitting the genuine Berg switch to the 570 I can concur there probably are better methods / styles of switches for the changing of maps, both home modified and aftermarket. But after a big weekend of serious off road riding, ( very steep uphills and some scary decsents) the traction setting is the only way to go.. more control,the soft or traction setting makes it a very compliant ride able bike that does not wear you out, as an allround setting standard is a good comprimise. Other than the beach / deep sand / motarding etc or if you have a death wish, I do not know where you could use all the acceleration of the aggresive or competition setting, though it is nice to change to the competion setting to get the blood really pumping! Rode all 3 settings around a basic loop, found a marked ( scary) difference between traction and competition settings. Lack of traction is a real issue in the competition mode even with new sharp rubber on the rear tyre.
If I riding in a new area, I would go in @ standard then dial in the level of insanity required. Even with the bog standard switch it only takes a minute to change maps..

I have done this two ways.
First is to just stick the desired resistor into the plug and goop it up. Change plug to change curve.

The other is a ON-OFF-ON toggle switch. Middle is stock, switch it one way or the other and you get the aggro or soft. I then mounted it in my number plate.
