Hallo!

I need to change my swingarmbearings.
My questions are, do you have any tips to give me before I start?
In other words are there any things in particular I need to be aware of?

And, do you always use bearings from Husaberg or do any of you just buy bearings from a "bearingsshop"?

If that´s the case, could anyone help me with what bearingmeasures it is... I got a 501 ´01

I hope you understand my questions.... :)

many thanks

Rikard

Hi Rikard well it could be un easy job or though one thats if swing arm
shaft rusted or not. Last time I replace swing arm bearings it was though
one I had fabricate puller to pull axle through. basicly tube longer and
slightly larger than swing arm axle diameter and a all thread (long rod
that threaded through its lenght) all thread needs slightly smaller than
inside hollow swing arm axle. Now all thread inside axle all the through
as all thread comes through to other side put nut on (make sure that
nut diameter is smaller than axle diameter) now slide tube over all thread
put washer and a nut on all thread and start tighten nut hopefuly it will pull through without a problem. Swing arm bearings I dont know of any warehouse bearings I think Husaberg dealer is best chance

Prayer for a easy one!

Thanks, then I hope this one´s gonna turn up easy.... :)

Did you remove the shock completely or just at the bottom by the swing?

Hi rikard,

no problem, you can buy bearings on the aftermarket in a bearingshop!
By the way: All bearings at the whole bike you can get there! It´s all standard, maybe except the double bearing counter balancer bearings in your engine......

The bearings are "HK 2218" in quantity of 4. Right now I don´t know the dimensions of the seal rings, sorry.
But they are not expensive at the Husaberg dealer.

Oh, now I see your second question:

You can left the shock absorber in your frame, you only need to remove the bottom end and pull the swingarm backwards off the frame/engine area (but with previously removed rear wheel :D ).

Thanks!

Am I not right that the bearings on the aftermarket is much cheaper compared to buying from a husabergdealer?

That´s what I heard, I haven´t compared myself yet.

When you put things back together again, how hard are you supposed to lock the axel for the shock and swing?

Do you use a "momentkey", I don´t know if that´s the word in english, but the kind tool that marks when you tightened it enough or?

Hi,

I was talking about the seal rings and not about the bearings, when I said "not expensive".
In fact the bearings at your Husaberg dealer are minimum of triple price than bearings on the aftermarket ! That´s a lot when you buy several bearings or more than 1.

About the nut: surely you can use a torque tool (I´m not sure if this is the right word for that).
I don´t use that too often. I would say you have to tighten the nut with sense and sensibility. Not too loose and not too tight, I would say... :)

Thanks!

Do you usually need to replace the spacers too, or is it just the sealings and bearings that wears out?

As I understand it, it´s 2 bearings, sealings and one spacer on each side. correct?
