CDI/Coil measurement

Hi,

I just washed my 02 FE400 Husaberg with warm/high pressure water (i know, i'm idiot), and after that i don't have spark anymore.

i have measured the stator impedances and they are ok, also i removed kill- and hi/lo switches out of the system, but i still do not get any spark.

So, what i think, it is the CDI/Coil box, do anybody know how to measure it ?

At least if You measure the resistance betveen Sparkplug cap/wire and Ground there should be something like 20-30K ohms, am i right ?

Hi,

there is no possibility to measure the ignition coil.
You can only test it. Mount it to another bike and youÃ‚Â´ll see if it works.
But not everbody has got another bike as test object. :cry:

Are you really sure you havenÃ‚Â´t got any spark? The spark is hard to see,
if it isnÃ‚Â´t dark in your garage. Your stator is ok? After washing the bike with high pressure
it is always hard to start the engine.
Regarding to your sparkplug cap, I thought normally the value would be 5k.
That is what you can read on the cap itself. But IÃ‚Â´m not 100% sure.

Hrib,
I always wash my bike with a pressure cleaner and with the tank off, and no probs yet.
After I wash it I blow it down with air and then start it. I think you should blow all the connectors with air, remove the plug and clean it and then try again, I doubt you have damaged anything with water but maybe dislodged a connector or got water into something?

Hi Scully,

yes, what you mentioned would be the right method, but
I havenÃ‚Â´t got a pressure cleaner at home, so for me itÃ‚Â´s not
possible to blow all the moisture out of the connectors.
After the bike is dried normally everthing works fine. What I was
talking about is when you try to start the engine just after you washed it.
By washing the bike with pressure water, there is also the possibility of
getting the air filter wet and/or getting water into the carb.

Mika, are there any news about your coil?

Hrib,
I also take off the air filter and place it in a plastic bag and zip tie it and screw it back down before I start the wash.
I think you mean you havent got an air compressor to blow it out?
After the wash I always check inside the air "sock" for water but usually there is none.

Don't wash it. It'll just get dirty again! Around here, we just wait for it to start raining, then go riding so Mother Nature can wash her up for us. Plenty of tank deep mud puddles here. But if you use soap be quick, as the pipe will make too many bubbles if you take too long. Of course us Oregonians are rust colored and have webbed feet too!

blow out your connections and unplug and re-plug until you get a spark.

try my leaflet for using 'mastik' to seal all electrics etc.
