Hi guys

I have a FE 550 2007, the previous owner exclusively ran it on belray thumper 15-50W here in hot Australia.

Will this Castrol Activ 4T be fine?
Belray Thumper is ridiculously expensive at $25 a litre and I feel as though I need a little more than a litre as I change my oil filter every time I do oil.

Castrol Activ 4T Motorcycle Oil - 15W-50, 4 Litre - Supercheap Auto Australia

There's a link to the oil, should I run into any issues?
I'm too scared to run Delo 400 :p

oil

Hey there,
I would have a look at the Delo,
I have run 2 FE550s on Delo for hundreds of hours riding and some racing.
Also your clutch will have a better feel to it , I have had no issues. Must of run about 30+ litres through the bikes so far.

My brand new bike a couple of years back, I run that on Delo also.
Some of the guys on here have done some pretty extensive testing with this oil and engines.

Cheers,

Fair enough fair enough, Do they still make the straight stuff and not the energy saving one or whatever it is?

Yep, just plain Delo 400 15/40 multigrade is what you want, maybe with a splash of Bushie's secret Lucas Oil Stabilisor. Almost any Caltex servo has it.

Which Lucas product?

I have some Lucas stuff that if it even touches metal, you cannot remove it entirely unless you grind through the metal.

Boss dropped some on a brake drum once, and cleaned it off immediately, but the brakes pulsed till they re-machined the drum, didn't pulse before the drum was off.

Was considering using it on the cylinder liner, think that would be a good idea or a bad idea? Also on the mains and little end.

We put the Lucas Stabilizer in our tow trucks, 480k KM, engine hasn't ever had any problems, but it is a Cummins...

top of the list here:
Engine Oil Additives

Used to use Moreys but Bushie discovered it didn't agree with the little ends just after I started to use it.

Dunno whether it makes much difference, but if Bushie likes it, and my engines are all good, maybe can't hurt?

My 98 501 has 33,000 hard kms on it and the Delo is its staple, as is my 11,000 km old 07 FE650, and my DRs, and missus' KLX, and XT1200Z and the Daedong and .........

Yep, same stuff we use in the Cummins.

I keep forgetting to add it to my Honda Acty Kei truck that burns oil faster than you can drive it... should do a 50% Mix on that thing.

its very good oil the delo

the moreys stabilser is fantastic too but contains sulfur which corrodes the silver plating on the big end cages

it eats through in about 180 hrs engine time so if you plan to change big end before then its ok.

lucas however is compatible with silver
