My 02 Fc470e starts and runs great at sea level-however where i ride fluctuates between 4500-7000 feet the bike gets finicky and wants a slightly cracked throttle to start, button or kick. it wont idle and when it does idle if i crack the throttle a just a bit it wants to wheeze and die. when running down the road or on the single track with the trottle on it seems to have great response and run great but after i get to the top of the hill and am waiting for the rest of the group on their lesser bikes- it is a pain to have to hold the throttle open to keep it from stalling. I really don't want to wear out my starter from starting it so much. ya...i know... thats why there is a kick.. but i hate having to kick on the side of a steep hill....

Not being a mechanic- does it sound like jetting issues? any suggetsions on settings using the stock jets for this alttitude?

Thanks

Jared

Jared,

I suggest you readjust the idle speed at altitude, and maybe lean out the idle mixture also. That should fix it!

Jared,
I agree with Joe stock jetting should be fine at least in the 4000-
5000 ft. elevation range, as I have no experience with higher
elevations. However continue to follow up with your fuel delivery
issues and this problem may cure itself. with higher altitude comes
diminished fuel flow due to pressure. This problem may have been
oncomming for a while .

Good luck,
Ryan

try the european jetting which you'll find in the front of your owners manual.

Hey Taffy,

What about the jetting I have in my fx470e? I believe you had written it down somewhere, I don't have it in reach at the moment.
The jetting was given to me by a factory team mechanic and works very well. Starts kick/e-start hot or cold. Runs clean of bottom and climbs in RPM smooth.
I will have a look if needed.
Regards.

Thanks all for the suggestions- I will try what you suggested joeUSA this weekend. I am going riding again :D 3rd time in two weeks :D

taffy I would look at the owners manual but i dont have one. I have the parts manual and shop manual from UHE. Do you have a copy?

Maichusa- I would be interested in those jett settings if you can locate them

Thanks again
Jared
