Hello all from the sunny UK

I joined the forum today, after putting a deposit on a 2011 fe390

The thing is, I have been on a high all day thinking of my new bike, only to find lots of people on here with issues relating to boiling fuel and the like.
Coming from KTM's I have never heard of this and the thought of it is pretty much blowing my enthusiasm out, to the point that sitting here late at night, I am wondering whther to cancel my purchase and go for the orange option. Not because orange is a better bike, but because I am being frightened off (damn I shouldnt have read all that stuff ! )

So, are there any owners of the late fuel injected bikes out there that do not have these issues, that can cheer me up with some good news please

Surely not everyone has this problem?

I have had no boiling fuel issues. My FE 2010 FE570 was sometimes hard to start when new and hot, but that seemed to have disappeared. It has never let me down in the bush.
You wont need any of us on UHE to cheer you up once you have it sitting in your garage it will cheer you up just looking at it, guaranteed. It just feels better each time you ride it also, you will love it.

Get the factory Fan kit with the bike.

The new Husaberg has won Dirt Bike of the year 2 times in a row over here in Australia. It has to win next year too as there is just nothing that changed in the other makes of bikes that puts them any closer to the Husaberg.
You are on the right bike for sure, cheer up :)

Boiling fuel should not be an issue in the Uk. I have it on occasion here in AZ (it has been over 105F the past 10 days). It usually happens when chasing slower riders in the tight single track with high ambient temps. I rode is Colorado fo 8 days with no fuel boiling issues(lower ambient temp). Now, even though it boils I have had no issues other than the gurgle noise coming from the tank, always starts and runs fine.
KTM's never had the issue because they never had EFI.
But the fan kit and enjoy life.
As far as boiling fuel being a problem, in my opinion it's only a problem if it gives you rideablity issues. In my case it's not an issue, just a noise the bike makes when it's really hot.

Your gonna love the bike

My issues turned out to be a bad wire and not boiling fuel. I have boiled fuel on many a KTM too. The fuel we have in the USA has soo much junk added to it, it is really bad. I switched to the lowest octane with the least additives from the pump and have had no problems. You'll be very happy with your 390. You also have to remember, sites like this always bring out the few problems for folks to talk about so it seems like there are more problems than there really are. There are tons of happy folks who just don't post as they don't have a problem to ask about. You'll love the bike.

Welcome :)

Where abouts are you from? I am in hampshire got mine from Trevor Popes.

We dont get the issue of boiling fuel here that I have heard of (so no need to get the fan kit). We arent as lucky as the other guys here having Hot weather :) lol.

I've only done one decent ride on my 2011 FE570. Certainly no problem with boiling fuel even when there was very little in the tank.

I added a factory fan kit as the bike goes off to southern Spain on Sunday for a week of riding down there. I have also wrapped the exhaust with an exhaust bandage - mainly to save my leg should I be daft enough to trap my leg under the r/hand side of the fallen bike!! When doing this job, I extended the wrap right from the header to the silencer box. Hopefully it'll keep some heat away from various parts including the rear shock.

I've had excellent service from the THE KTM Centre in Hemel - I thought they had a new FE390 unsold in the showroom when I was in there on Saturday.

Hi there and congrats on the bike. I have a 2010 FE390 and it is great! The reviews were right!

On break-in on my first single track ride, bike at 3 hrs, I overheated the bike, causing steam from the radiator twice on that day, but it was a technical boggy mess (see pic below) and I was over revving and over using the clutch.

This is the riding I do, so I bought a fan kit, and on my second ride I didnt overheat at all. I also bought a new counter sprocket with 1 tooth less, so I dont over use the clutch. Most of my riding is at less than 30 km/hr.

In Australia, temps get to 40 clelcius where I live. For peace of mind, I bought the CV4 under tank blanket, and took the little ball out of the fuel cap, so I don't hit any fuel vapour lock issues as has been reported.

These are very simple issues to resolve quickly, and make a great bike even better in any riding conditions.

I dont have a 390 but I can say the 09's are awesome and from what I can gather the 11's are off the scale. You won't be dissapointed my friend.

They look like barkbuster EGO's.[/quote]

Yes, they are EGO Bark Busters. I've used these on other bikes too and are great.

Hey darrenmk, Just got back into dirt bikes after 30 years. Dont sweat the written stuff. Its gonna be here forever. Those of us who are happy dont post on the site. Only those who have problems post here and their problems are all different. sooo, stastically speaking, you wont have all these probs. Maybe one down the line or NOT. You will have a unique scoot, and I bet you will have fun telling everyone about Husaberg mistique.

Thanks for the replies everyone

I picked up my new bike today, but I bottled it and got a 2011 KTM 400

Very pleased with choice - both are good bikes (ktm asnd bergs) but my heart is with KTM (for now at least)

Maybe next year I will see the light eh?

Have fun !!

Cheers
Darren

Too bad. I hope it wasn't the "boiling fuel" that put you off the Hussy.

Mine does it (makes the noise) on some trails when the bike gets hot, but I've not really worried about as it never caused me problems. I do have the pipe wrap kit and the applique for the tank and those will get applied in a week or two when the bike is torn down for service and installation of the subframe tank.
