If you look in the dictionary under *****, you'll see my picture :D and I can do it :)

Can it be done with the engine in the frame? Possibly, but since you have a 650 there is not a whole lot of room left in the frame, especially if you have the street legal one, since all the electrical crap for the lights, etc. is mounted above the valve cover leaving only a couple of cm of space. I'm thinking it'be easier to pull the motor. Wich isn't as much work as it sounds. First time took me 1,5 hours to get the motor out, second time got it out in about 45 minutes.
Especially if you're not an experienced mechanic like I am, it's easier to do it with the motor out than trying to do something for the first time (like set the timing or valves) when you can hardly get a wrench or a screw driver in.

Just make sure you get the timing correct when reassembling. All the info is in the owner's doc.

If you run into problems just ask the people on this site, they will help you out, worked great for me.

if you don't know your way around the basics as a mechanic i'd say it was a step too far to start. we could give you advice on avoiding the pitfalls but you may find that instead of scaring you, it's best to take it to a shop. i would have thought 6 hours labour maximum.

where are you from?

regards

Taffy
