Hi!

I have pressed in new bearings on the camshaft on my 650 Berg. I read somewhere in the manual that the bearing should be pressed in so you just got a little clearance between the bearing and the auto decomp device. But I cant find any information on how far pressed in the other bearing should be.

Should that be pressed in so it is bottoms in the cam shoulder? If i do, I think it looks like the cam sprocket are not in the accurate centerline between the two cam sprockets.

its true the cam sprockets often dont line up

so if you can use the cam bearing placement to correct sprocket alignment without interfering with the decomp then go for it

i used washers to make sure the cam bearings didn't move and did some machining to the cam shoulder

Yes, thats what i did also. Pulled the bearing a little out from the camshoulder and a washer in between. I think it is weird that the manual dont say anything about it, as it is a important thing considering sprockt/chain wear and the load on the cam bearings.

my oem '04 450 bearing on the sprocket side was loose enough to find a center on it's own
