Hi there!

My search did not reveal a lot; is there a cam chain replacement how-to which I could consult when replacing the cam chain on my 2007 FE550?

Can one simply use a cam chain link, connect the new chain to the old one via the link and pull the new chain through from the top of the motor?

Hope what I've just typed makes any sense :?

It's not realy big deal, get a telescopic magnet and have some spare wire and yes, it can be a plain in the ***.

Crimping the new master link correctly is a good idea other wise it makes some lame noises for awhile.

I did mine durring a full rebuild but I did my old KTM without pulling the motor.

use two people and it's a doddle but on your own you'll wish you had another pair of hands!

I used a couple pieces of safety wire when I changed mine. Tied the old chain to the new one. Tie a piece on both sides of where you break the link. You dont want to drop it! Note the cam sprocket position or snap a pic of it before you start. It's pretty easy, you just have to jiggle it to get it around the lower cog. You'll need to take the tensioner blade out.

Hi
I like better to open the clucth cover to check things, but you can use your soft link to join the 2 chains and just roll it.
