Buying captive tank insert nuts for shrouds?

There are a lot of trees in Western Canada, and I seem to have trouble avoiding them. Recently, I ripped the shrouds off my 390 in a particulary violent yet ultimately unsuccessful attempt at deforestation. The shrouds ripped the nut inserts out of the tank, and I don't see them on the parts diagram. This could be because they're set into the tank from the factory. I can just epoxy some nuts and washers in there, but I like the factory ones. Any idea how to order them?

the rad shrouds screw directly into the plastic of the tank, cant recall seeing any captive nuts on my 450

There are inserts embedded in the plastic. When I collided with a tree it ripped one of them out. They are smooth and rounded on the outside. They look sort of like a bullet. I don't know what keeps them from spinning when you tighten the bolts. But I have no idea where to buy replacements.

I wonder if some tanks had them while others did not??? My 09 most certainly has no inserts. Just sheet metal type screws directly into plastic. And unfortunate design for such a great bike! :-?

The husaberg was designed for easy service and by people that could think outside the typical dirt bike design we have had for many years.
You do have to disassemble and reassemble the bike a few time to be come familiar with the procedure, after you are competent with working on your husaberg the bike is very easy to work on and service.
I do understand the frustration many people have working on the bike because of it’s different design. The sub- frame and fuel tank are a different design than most dirt bike owner are familiar with but it is a good design once understood!!
Very quick and easy to disassemble and assemble!
Now the aluminum quick screws that go into the plastic, I agree it’s a little cheep even if you are careful, manufactures are always looking for a way to cut cost!!
There are many online sites that have repair thread inserts for plastic and plastic screws even small drywall inserts work.
I have had the same problems with sagebrush pulling air scoops loose and crashes(ouch) I have had the inserts on the sub tank pull out from my abuse. No fault of the tank!
I have not found a glue that holds for more than a few rides
The thread repair inserts for plastic works great or over size plastic screws and there are some good push in fasteners that might work, if you tear them loose just push them back in!
I have also used industrial strength Velcro to hold plastic parts tight works great!
Do some research online you might find something better than I have used.
Over ten thousand miles on my 2010 FE570, still runs better than new, only problems are the ones I have caused!
Have a great ride

Hello all - I'm new to the forum and recently bought a low hour '11 FE570

I'm bringing back an oldie here on this thread...

So while tinkering with the new bike I found that that PO had cross threaded one of the bolts that go into the fuel tank to hold on the plastic shrouds.

The captive nut behind the bolt is spinning, so I can't get the bolt out.

Its not structural or anything, but it's driving me crazy and I'd like to find some way to fix it.

So does anyone have a picture or know what the nuts embedded in the tank look like? If I could get a sense of what they look like and how they're mounted in there maybe I could come up with some sort of plan to trim the top plastic over the nut to get the nut out, and glue in a new one, or maybe stake the nut to get the bolt out of it, etc

Thanks all!

On my husky, I used a screwdriver bit in a cordless drill. Spun the screw and insert to heat it up and gently pulled on the shroud. Everything pulled out the I just used some jbweld to put it back it (I filled the bolt hole with plasticine. When set I used a pick to get out the putty.
