Just want some advise. I would be a first time Berg owner and looking to buy this bike. It has some km's on it but seems to be well maintained, regular oil/filter changes, valve adjustments. So he says. Just wondering how many km people have seen on these bikes before you are looking at doing engine work? It so street legal so I think a lot of the km were street/forest road. He's asking $2800 CAD, seems pretty fair. Any advise is appreciated!

Frank, looks like you own a 450. How is it on the highway? I am looking for a commuter that can still rip some single track..I had seen this bike, just a bit out of my price range..
I can tell my experience with the FE 550,
it has ~9400 km. and ~270 hours, full engine rebuild was done twice, the first cost about 1200 EUR (150 hours), the second one cost about 1800 EUR(230 hours), (last rebuild was done of the free wheel hub failure, two broken teeth broke clutch cover and so on ...) so ask the previous owner When was the last engine rebuild?, and can he show you the invoices just to be in the safe side. in my opinion if the rebuild was done 20-60 hours ago it is good idea if it is not done at all better forget about it or add additional 2000 USD for the rebuild that you have to pay in next half of the year (also take in to account that during engine rebuild you will watch moves on youtube instead of making movies with you berg

all other things in berg is quit cheap, or can be made by you (if you have right hands)

Its OK on the road I use it for off road only The plate is so I do not have to truck it I use the DRZ for the road
Remember these are high preformance bikes . If you look after them they will serve you well I change my oil every 250KM and oil & filter every 500KM
