Buy a supermoto or dirt?

Hey Guys

I am picking up a 550 or 650 Berg this week that I want to use for a street supermoto 90% of the time but also want to use it in the dirt with 21" and 18" dirt wheels. I would like to know if you would be better off buying the supermoto or the enduro model? The front brake on the factory supermoto does not look like it will fit with a dirt wheel, and the bottom of the fork tube on the brake side looks different then on the dirt model. Has any one done this yet? I can pick the year I want 06 or 07 as they have them both, should I take the 07 because of the crank shaft up date or is the 06 as reliable?
Thanks

i would get the SM and make sure i pick dry days to ride on the dirt. i think that after one ride when you've fallen three times and the bike is no longer gleaming - you'll stick to the road. many have tried it and nobody really does justice to both. we've had one or two and go and get a dirtbike so they get some quality practice in on the real thing. that way their skills improve even if they don't actually use the same race bike.

hope this helps and sorry it's not what you wanted to hear!

regards

Taffy

Thanks Taffy

I just ordered the 07 550 Supermoto, thanks for the advice. It is getting shipped out of Toronto and should be here (Winnipeg) next week. I was looking at a left over 06 650sm but by the time I had all the odds and ends to get it on the street it would have cost more then the 07 550.

Excellent choice sir.

Do you currently have a clean driving record?

Enjoy.

Well the driving record should be good for a few more weeks, we still have lots of snow on the ground, I can still ride my snowmobile. I have wanted a supermoto for the last 10 years but would always end up buying sport or street fighter bikes, than last fall a friend bought a KTM 450 SM and let me ride it. It was the first time I had ever rode a supermoto bike and after 5 minutes on that bike I knew i had to buy one. The bike should be here on Monday and I can't wait to see it.

dunno if it helps but a local yokel said harley tyres are pretty cheap ways of converting ya enduro to motard......same rim size

The Bike is now here, the first thing I want to do is remove the screen that is welded into the end of the pipe, is this some kind of spark arrestor? I hate the look of it, I want the hole in the end like the MX bike. Has anyone cut this out on their bike? Other then that the thing looks awesome.
