In your pics with the 3D dti, are you using it to accuratley measure your tappet settings instead of using a feeler guage 1/6 of a turn method?

If so, I like it and will try mine tonight!!
Pete

ahm yes pete

its a bit fiddly to get the LHS exhaust but its possible (clamp a bit of steel bar onto the airbox 90 deg to the airbox axis) and great to recalibrate your feel for a feeler guage if your a bit rusty.

the turns method is consitently all over the place and the feelers can be out cause of cupping wear though from what ive seen the cups only measure about 0.02mm deep at worst.

a dial guage used with feelers should allways give the most accurate measurement though its obviously not that important in these engines or no one would be able to start their bergs after using the turns method :D.

cheers

so whats the best amount of float then 0.10mm?

I cant wait to have a go, im always dubious about how close i get it.

Pete

no idea, sorry pete

try 5 thou then 6 thou if 6 thou is too noisy go to 5.5 ?

0.12mm is about 4.7 thou

if in doubt,go a bit more clearance rather than less.
might make a little more noise, but at least it won't be riding.
the elephant feet, cam, roller rocker & valves all wear quickly if it rides.(set too close).
..weed..
