Bullet proof Bergs

2003 FE400; last fall, I installed a Scotts damper. Had to get it welded on since the steering stem installation was out of stock.

First ride the engine made a terrible noise, lost power, but kept running. After months of intermittent attempts to fix and many varying theories (don't ride much in the winter up here in the north), I sent the engine to Dick's Racing. They diagnosed the problem as a piece of metal sucked in through the intake tract.

My final theory is that the welding shop must have dropped something in the frame during their very short task!!!.

The thing kept running with a chunk of scrap metal bouncing around inside, and only a leaking intake valve as damage...not bad I say. 'Bergs are bullet proof...literally.
