I just picked up a 2011 FE 570. She is a pretty bad *** machine if I do say so myself.
I also picked up some gear including tech 7 boots some pants helmet check protector gloves.
I have been riding bike for 15 years but this is my first dirt bike. I have been wanting to get into something a little physical that I can do with some friends so this seems to be a great opportunity.
I went out for a ride in the dirt with her for the first time today. I am a nood at the dynamics of dirt and bikes to say the least so, needless to say I was keeping it slow and deliberate staying on fire trails while my friend would go off on some short cuts. We finally did go off on a slightly less kept trail and about 10 mins in, on a hill clime, I stuck the rear tire in some soft dirt and gave it too much throttle and she bit me.
I am still a little unsure what happened but I ended up on the right side of the trial with the bike next to me facing down hill. The bike did a 180 around my leg apparently.
I thought I heard a snap but it could have just been a twig I think to my self.
I try to stand up but end up on my face from the pain in my left leg. But no time for that. The sun is going down and we have to get down off the mountain. So I have my buddy hold the bike up for me and I swing my banged up leg over the bike grit my teeth and head back the way we came. In 1st gear this time around.
I takes me about 45 mins to get back to the main road and home. I decide to have my buddy drive me to the hospital and after a few x-rays it turns out the leg was fractured in 2 places below the knee and above the ankle and I might need surgery to take care of it.
I will know tomorrow what the deal is.
Damned this luck
How the hell can one prevent broken legs? I figured the tech 7 was a good investment but hell I don't even know how this happened through those boots.
