broken kickstart/crankcase

Hi could someone help. The part of the crankcase that the kickstart shaft slots into,which is like a round cup that the spring sits over,has broken into 3 pieces.I have tried instant metal with no joy.is there any other way of repair other than new crankcases,or could i still use the bike as it is.thanks :?
 
a picture would help. what condition is the base of that "cup"? if its broken as well, ur screwed. either way, you've got some work ahead of you. how did this happen?
 
sorry no pictures .Half of the cup is missing on the right side. I have not got a clue how this happened, but my kickstart has been playing up for a while.Luckily i found the pieces which were jammed under the spring. Looks like it might be time to get rid .Its been playing up since i bought it cheers

If you still have the broken pieces, dismantle the engine and take it to a welder who knows what he's doing. He'll be able to fix it.
 
hi .yes thats the bit,but the pieces are knackered so cannot get them welded.might try some new stuff called tecno weld ,which is for this kind of repair.The only thing is i have to heat the engine case up to 350 degrees to use it. i will let you know how i get on thanks. john

what size engine?

if it's that middle boss in the kickstart area the answer is easy!

get it to an engineer who will machine you a fresh piece and machine the old case down and even a 'V' for your weld!

or send the engine up to me and i'll do it. i have three jobs on the go with my engineer at the moment. been with him 27 years since i started racing in 1981.

hi its a 2002 fe 400.I am taking it to a engineer on monday.Hopefully he can do something thanks
