broken fcr41 carby plate

strike a light, i can't win a trick can i? :cuss:
yep you got it,rh top one has no little inner bearing & is 18.5mm,all the others 18.9mm
i just thought someone has put something bodgie in there to make do.
the kehin parts book only lists 1 sort of roller, & i have just recieved it & it is one of those bodgie 18.5mm ones :?
so that was a waste of money.
the rollers just seem too loose inside the track? :?
with this spare roller i might try putting some devcon around the outside of the roller then filing it into shape, just to take a bit of this slop out.
does the mk2 slide plate look like that one of mine?

..weed..

from here it looks the same

the difference is the little wagon trolley bit of the slide with the wheels has a raised bit so you can't put the removable (bit that breaks) part of the slide in upside down.

ill see if ive got some lil bearings like that in me box of old weird stuff for you

yeah don't know if i can make this thing work or not yet with the plate glued to the slide. :?
ok doesn't seem to make any difference with the throttle cracked, but idle(with slide fully closed) too much air can pass around the front of the slide (which the floating plate took up under vacume).of course then it runs lean & is a ***** to start.
i might try taking a few fly $hits off the dia of the rollers to allow the slide assy to be sucked up under vacaume to hopefully seal against motor side of the carb.it will either work or it won't.
it would be interesting to see if a mk2 complete slide assy will go into the mk1 carb?
if this doesn't work, i might have to get you to measure up that slide ,in your spare mk2 carby you have bushy.
..weed..

pretty sure they don't. I reckon the proddy carb that doesn't have a seperate bellmouth has a wider plate for sure.

yeah no worries or I can see if it fits in the MK 1 on the yz its due for a clean.

I reckon there needs to be 8 rollers with the rear set springloaded to push the slide forward, no rattle. I wonder if you could get it to seal off enough and still move though.

thread below reckons a proper bit of alloy is better than the cast one

yeah thanks for that link lad, didn't think i would be the only one having that problem. :?
i will have a bit more of a tinker & see what comes of it.
bit of a shame really,i dont mind this fcr carb, nice & simple & easy to tune, pity it has a design fault in the mk1,suppose it matches the 01 berg all over

the slide trolley thing in the MK-1 on the yz400 is different, the rollers that lift it pivot from in front of the slide whereas in the MK-2 the pivot is to the rear of the slide so the angled bit at the top of the trolley is 180 deg from one carb to the other.

the bit that breaks is the same except for different cutouts at the bottom.

sorry lad, i'm a bit dumb.
i'm not really seeing the full picture.
so the plate that breaks is pretty much the same design for both, except for the cut out being "L" or "M" etc.
that is not explaining to me why the mk1's are breaking & the mk2's are not.
i know on the mk1 the trolley doesn't support the plate where it breaks off at the bottom,i was thinking that ,that is why they break?, or maybe there is too much give in the mk1 special o-ring(that supports the plate).
next question is ..is the bottom of the plate supported by the trolley in the mk2's?
is the o-ring in the mk2 ,a bit beefier than the mk1 o-ring.
..weed..

duno why the mk1s break the thin flappy bit isn't supported any better on the mk2s the flappy bit looks the same the o rings look the same, the fit in the carb is the same perhaps a bit less flappy on the Mk1 doesn't make sense.

maybe the angle on the slide trolley pickup being 180 deg is the important bit. one pushes it one way one the other see pic. top is mk1 without the slide. bottom is mk2 see the lifting arms for the slide are at the rear of the carb while on the mk1 the arms are at the front.

thanks for doing that for us bushy, much appreciated.
i owe ya another one.
i will let know what comes of it.

no worries Weed

I don't get this slide thing yet, it flaps around in both mk1 and mk2 has an o ring and a hole then the trolley has 3 ball raced wheels and one dodgy one. like its supposed to be all wonky so it can work or something

been riding my freinds crf450X the carb slide rattles its head off at certain loads low throttle openings, has allways done so, I don't know why it isn't brocken yet. Im sposed to run it in for him but its boingers tried to kill me twice this morning, think I'll park the steaming red @#$%

Jeeez Bushie.... sounds like you been spoiled by your Berg.
Scary to think so many other riders around the world put up with marginal susspension..... ignorance is bliss for them.

been finkin weed

I reckon you had that seal in the wrong way round. my mechanic did it here. he put the seal in with the lip up against the plate and not so that it was proud and out so to speak.
