I'm new to the site and i've got a 2001 FC 550.
I have a few mechanical questions because it started acting funky. Last weekend i was riding the bike in 5th gear down a gravel road when i felt a sudden loss of power. I pulled the clutch in coasting to a stop when i could hear a loud knock in the engine. I killed the bike and once at a stop kicked it over again immediately hitting the kill switch after the knock. The kick starter is now locked up. I had a few metal flakes in the oil when i drained it. i now have the engine out of the bike waiting to tear it apart. I have never done this before so i was wondering if any of you have any bits of knowledge to share with me as far as disassembling the engine and/or what could be wrong with the bike.
