Anyone using a Brisk sparkplug?
Any good?
If so how do I go about purchasing one of these hard to find implements?
(note that I live in the middle of nowhere on a continent in the middle of nowhere)

Hi There Whos-a berg. There is no magic with sparkplugs, there are many great manufacturers of spark plugs,a new plug of the correct heat range and tip design recommended for your machine is as good as it gets, the fine wire tip designs require less voltage to fire when new and make starting easier .Use a brand name plug that is easy for you to get ,recommended for your bike and change it on a regular basis....just my opinion.....nsman

Thanks for the info FC501EAST.

See what you think of this nsman.

I have been using the brisk plugs in my 650 for the last 8 months.
When they first arrived I put the bike on the dyno with a new NGK and did a back to back test with the Brisk.
Result
Nearly 2 rwhp more and the peak power was there for longer before dropping off, and I mean significantly, not just a bit.

Cheapest improvement you will ever get, bar a new chain/sprocket :D

For the 650 the replacement plug is BOR12LGS I get em from janmax as they are easy to deal with and quick delivery over here in the UK

Highly recommended.

Well well, did I" spark" some interest here! The way I see it if the engine is healthy and the fuel to air ratio is correct for the conditions(air temp, altitude etc) the spark plugs only function is to ignite the mixture ,more spark voltage than is required is wasted. The explanation for the extra h.p. on the dyno run tells me that this engine is probably running a little rich allowing a new plug to show a short term gain in h.p. as it revs a few hundred rpm higher.I would be surprised if that same plug could reach that same reading after even one short ride.I remember when I raced in rz cup a new set of plugs would let the engine rev to 9300 rpm ,300 rpm higher than the rev limiter should allow, but it was only for approx two laps. If you could show me positive hp and torque gains in the lower to middle rpm ranges that would be more impressive than peak numbers to me.,my rule of thumb, new plugs are better than old plugs...just my opinion....nsman

The bike had been set up on the dyno a couple of weeks before on an NGK plug, then taken back to do the comparitive tests for the sole purpose of testing the Brisk theory.

If you go to the Brisk site you will see that the LGS series of plugs sparks in a different method to "traditional" plugs.
Because it has no negative post to block access to the cylinder the plug is able to spark through the path of least resistance (the densest fuel vapour concentration) you get a more efficient explosion, also thrown into the pot is the fact that no negative post means that the plug can protrude further into the cylinder putting the spark into a better position.

If you are truely sceptical, just invest $15 for a set and try them. Then at least you can put your point across from experience rather than just theory.
Just as a last note, the guy who runs the dyno was very suprised that a plug could make that amount of difference to the bike running after we had spent time setting it up before with the NGK,s
On the back of this I gave some to they guy who owns the "real" Husaberg Supermoto race team over here and his rider was "consistently" making 0.5 sec per lap gains in a comparative test againt NGK.

At the end of the day though everyone is entitled to opinion, but I would advise anyone who is competing to try these plugs before dismissing them as hype.
As Shaun at the dyno place said "the cheapest 2rwhp on this bike mate"

okay so what model plug would i need for an 04 FS650e

Brisk BOR12LGS assuming the '04 has the same NGK DCPR8E plug as the '02.

Buy them from Janmax in the States, he has stock usually and accepts PayPal.

just to let ya'll know that i tried to get the plug through the only name that came up in europe and that was the german importer. however he didn't want to know and put me on to an english dealer who has never been back to me......

so i ended up purchasing from pokenhood's link in the USA. i think i paid $15 for two.

anyway the exchange rate is superb at the moment!

I thought I'd check them out, I was quoted $37.50 inc postage (£19.54) did you ring up or buy on line Taffy?

Taffy was quoted $15 because they used to sell them singly, but just recently had them all repacked into 2x Plug blister packs.

I just need to figure out whether it's worth spending the money or trying the more readily available iridium ones.

This is a back to back dyno test I did with a new Brisk and a new NGK on my 650 SuperMoto. Results are a little low due to the race wet on the back and shagged chain and sprockets, but you can see the difference :D

I need a few new plugs, so I ordered a couple of these Brisk's.

What is the starting like with them ?

I hope they work ok in the British winter

Do the BOR12LGS ones work ok in a 2002 650 ?
