I will be taking delivery of my 07 Fe650e sometime this week. This will be my first Husaberg and first 4T.
Regarding the break in procedure, should I follow the user manual instructions, or is there is "better" way to doing this. Thanks in advance.

Great site btw.

I would bleed your cooling system. It may not be fully burped!

Thanks for the welcome.

With regards to the breaking (running) in, what would you guys suggest is better for the engine. Afaik, the manual states that the first 3 hours should be run at no more than 50% throttle, the following 12 hours no more than 75%.

Would this not create a lazy engine, some people also suggest short full throttle burst in 1st, 2nd and third.

I'm taking delivery tomorrow, let's see what the dealer has to say.

am i missing a trick here? but the '07s won't be out in the Uk until late october and more like november.

so what have you got in august? an '07?

ok :?:

Just my opinion, but I think the factory has a good point if you associate their advice to engine rpms.

I followed their advice for break in and have had extremely good results for 10,000 miles on my 00 501.

The other thing I do is change my oil HOT immediately after each days riding (55 to 110 miles). Delo 400 15W-40 at a $1.60 per quart.

I also use one of the cleanable stainless steel oil filters.

Don't forget to clean and reoil the air cleaner. I do mine every 3rd to 4th ride and use NoToil filter oil and cleaner. Just pop it into the washing machine on gentle cycle.

How about that for an Honest plug! :D

Regards,

Joe

Joe - thanks for the advice. Seems the only "bad" thing about a new bike is the first couple of hours until you can wring it, doubt if I'll be doing too much of it on the 650 though :D , but if you patient it'll provide miles of smiles and no problems, will pick up a SS oil filter when I go fetch her.

Taffy - Yes, it's the 2007 Fe650e, going in 4 hours to go and get her.
