Hi all.

I've been trying to find brake pads with more bite and/or durability for the radial mounted calipers on the -05 models but no luck so far.

Does anyone here at UHE have the answer to where I can find any :!:

The calipers are made by "FTE - design by beringer" but I cant find any website from FTE and beringer does not mention FTE at all on their site.

Cheers
/Jocke

Hi Jocke,
found something called Brake Pads Racing - Beringer 6-Piston
at the Schleenbecker Online Shop. I don't know the difference
between the standard/racing pads. Just email your questions
to [email protected].

Hope this helps,
regards Maddel
Thanks Maddel for trying :)
Unfortunately not helping me since my calipers are 4-piston and new for the 2005 models
The 6-piston ones was only mounted on the 2004 models.

I got some Ferodo Sinter brake pads for my old bike, and they were great. See if they got a model that fits..

I know Husaberg stock some Sinter pads for the 6-piston ones, but they are horribly expensive compared to the Ferodos. Did you try Husaberg themselves?

No luck in the aftermarket so far. Still hoping though...

In the parts manual that came with the bike two different sets of pads are mentioned, one for street use (homologized), and one NOT for street use. But when I brought this up with husaberg Scandinavia I got the reply that the NOT street ones had been cancelled/removed or something. Don't know how you say it in english....

Just to avoid confusion here is a poor picture (cellcam) of the caliper for the 2005 FS-models...

Take the pads down to your local bike shop and compare with existing pads for other bikes, they may cross over to a Brembo or other street bike brake pad.

Pictures worth 1000 words

FTE is an automotive brake manufacturer which Beringer has licensed the radial caliper design to. SBS manufactures the brake pads. The HH indicates sintered. The pads pictured are the "hard" or "street" compound. Part numbers listed are KTM numbers, I think. The "soft" compound lasts one race day.

In the US, Beringer brakes are imported by Frog Specialties. On your continent, I have no idea :)

What else can I do for you, Jocke ?

Cheers :)

Jocke,

In addition to Brett's info.

The EBC part number for the radial is: MXS405

I have been unable to find a cross references for others as yet.

Cheers,
Simon

Found some info about SBS:

SBS is an abrevaiton for Scandinavian Brake Systems.
The mother house is located in Kopenhagen Denmark.

Racing Teams using SBS:
Superbike WC (Ten-Kate)
Isle of Man (Honda UK, Yamaha Virgin)
Moto GP WC (Kawasaki)
Motocross WC (Yamaha UK)
Supermoto WC (Zupin Husquvarna)

Eight brake pad compounds are available:

HF + LF : Street Ceramic (for road use)
HS + LS : Street Excel Sintered Metal (high performance sport, touring and custom bikes)
SI : Off Road Sintered Metal (MX, Enduro, Supermoto)

RSI : Off Road Racing Sintered Metal
RS : Racing Sintered Metal
DC : RACING DUAL CARBON

Powerfiend->I have been to my local dealer but came up unlucky. But he did'nt have all that much stuff to go through I must be honest to say.

Thanks for your help Brett :)

So SBS makes the pads huh!? Have searched their catalogue but with no luck. Maybe it takes a personal contact.
The "hard" pads lasts no more than two race days so I was primarly looking for both bite and durability. Will investigate further...

Simon,

The hint to EBC seems great. I will look into that

Next race is next tuesday and I must have great brakes to defend my 1st place and try to get more ahead in the local series ;)

If not yet checked, here's the link to SBS
On the menu-bar select "Catalouge, Motorcycle".
On the next screen
-at the first combo-box select "caliper"
-at the third select "BERINGER"
-and at the fourth select your caliper model

May be this helps...

Been there, done that. Unfortunately

At sbs.dk they only have the older four piston calipers.

But I have found out that a new "race-kit" is being released with new pads and new pistons in stainless stell. The race kit will even be cheaper than new original pads :)
I ordered two kits immediately... Will report here as soon as possible.

Contact your BERINGER people and order the 1220 R2 pads. Not road legal but the best for the kit. Much softer than the standard ones supplied with bike, but you will feel the difference, like a whole new brake kit.

Thanks for the tip. Will try that if I don't get satisfied with the kit I just ordered :)

Are steel pistons original, or are there aluminium alloy ones fitted from factory?

What about the six-piston ones?

Apologies for digging up old thread - just bit more info for people who look for pads for this 4 pot Beringer caliper:
EPFA405HH are ebc track day/fast street pads for this caliper where MXS405 is moto cross/off road.

I also have a '05 fs650 with the "FTE design by Beringer" 4-puck front caliper, and I am trying to find pads right now.

Are you sure (or does anybody know) that EBC EPFA405HH is definitely the correct part # for this caliper? The reason I ask is because the photo of this pad does not look like the pads in the bike. I don't want to order and then have to return if avoidable.

I could really use some help finding the correct replacement pads for my bike, specially since mine are down to about 25% left!
