Hello,
Like the subject states, I just bought my first dirtbike...1997 Husaberg FE400. The bike seems to be in very good shape, the gentleman i bought the bike from was in the bike business his entire life, so he was very informative on what to look for.

He told me the first thing he would do would be changing out the air filters, and advised me that this bike requires two filters. I'm wearing my computer out looking for an online parts shop to purchase the air filters!!

I would really appreciate someone pointing me in the right direction, thanks in advance!!

not sure where you're from Kimble but I have all that stuff here in the UK and can post easily enough.

i'm from Pennsylvania, and i'm not sure what you mean by "post easily enough".

I visited the offroadboss.com website, and my search was unsuccessful...although i did find air filters for slightly newer husa bikes.

i'm going to give the shop a call once they open up and see if i can get some better help that way...thanks for the responses!

Be sure and give Rick at Offroad Boss a call as he has a lot of stuff that is not listed on the website and also has a lot of OEM parts for older Husabergs.

I figured I might get a little further with a phone call, I appreciate you sharing the name of whom I should talk to...I'll be sure to let him know I was found out about him from this site.

thanks again!

Well when needing direction on a berg you have found the best place for it, with a little searching or asking of a question you will surely get everything yo need.
Air filters also available on ebay, search "husaberg air fitlers" also oil filter #HF155 id get a few of these too, very critical to change oil super frently on that bike for long life, a cheap alternative to the synthetic 5w-50 would be the standard rotella-t synthetic or non-synthetic 15w40 will have JASO rating on the back (written out, not in the circle api rating)

People from all over the world come here, different parts of the world speak the same language differently than us sometimes i have found, its usually amuzing more then frustrating, obviously our way of speaking may be difficult for everyone else to read also so it goes both ways.

if you have more questions (you will) you know where to go.........

I tried ebay, but wasn't successful...

I ended up finding a shop in NY that was very helpful...Edelman's. They had to order the air filters for me, i'll list the parts #'s below for the next guy looking for them.

#15009801
#15006601

they were $44/each!! ouch...

okay, i jumped the gun on this purchase...Rick from offroadboss emailed me back with a UNI kit for my bike, it comes with both filters for $34.95. very nice guy, said it should ship out today or tomorrow!

luckily, i was able to cancel my order through Edelman's...that rick saved me some $$!!

I couldn't agree with you more regarding Rick at BOSS. He's no doubt the Boss when it comes to Husabergs! I was in his shop looking for a filter once. He didn't have a new one, so he gave me one off his personal bike. Stand up guy for sure!

Kimble and I seem to be on the same quest. Similar bikes. Mine is the 1996 fe 350. They are really pretty advanced bikes for the vintage.

I too was in contact with the BOSS. Kind of shot him a lot of different things I need to find via email. Here in the western states, he seems to be the way to go. I will gladly pay shipping versus driving fifteen minutes. I hope to make a trip out there to meet him as my sister in law is in his area now. Two birds, one stone.

I had some carb questions for him (jetting and gaskets) and some minor body parts. Very awesome contact I never would have got if not for Unofficial.

Will soon change my username since this bike will not meet it's end by my hand. I'll bury it in my backyard before I part it.

luckily, the bike i purchased has relatively low hours/mileage for 1997. Everything is very tight, it starts easily, and I can't wait to get it out on the dirt!

like I said earlier, this is my first dirt bike...I personally don't believe this is a great bike to start off on, it's so damn powerful and seems to be built for advanced riders (with racing in mind). I could be way off on that, but the reality is, I've got a well built, well maintained bike and I plan on keeping it that way.

I'll try and throw some pics up sometime this week!
