BOSS / Clarke petcock sealing

Here's a stupid question. I need to put the old seat mount bolt on the new one. The stock tank had a brass insert where the bolt went, the new one has nothing. What do I do? Tap the hole for M6x1.0?

I used a screw and a collar with a flange.

Thanks, that worked.

Now I'm having problems with the kickstarter fit under the tank. It seems like the little recess in the tank is too short lengthwise to let the foot part of the kicker in and out under the tank. Anybody else experience this? It almost seems like I would need to lose about half an inch off the foot part to get it back under.

Hey Pro, You might want to check with Boss. I believe some models need the 07 shorter kickstarter to work properly.

When I changed my tank over I ended up using O-rings for fuel type fittings. I got them at a local auto store. They are more gray in color. The black ones would fail after a month or so.

I would like to see a photo of your seat/tank screw fix.

And Yes we all need graphics.

For the seat screw I drilled the hole and tapped it M6. Works like a damn.

For the kickstart I have a later (05?) lever and it looks like this. It is a tight fit but by turning the lever one spline on the shaft it seems pretty good.

I have had good luck just running the o-rings. I can see that the sleeve would be an improvement as well.

Yes, Berger the tank i had instaled was the first tank that leaked on me at both petcocks.

Took tank to disc sander smoothed surface at both petcocks to get rid of low spot at

center then used sleeve around pick up pipe below intake port ,had to lube hose twist

into place, feeling good now!

I had to change out my regular black o-rings for gas proof gray ones. I got them at an auto store.
