Blue smoking Fe400!!!

Hi guys, I have some problem again:

Bike started smoking like a two stroke (FE400-'99), for sure it's oil in the cylinder, it throws oil even from the exhaust! This started just like this, no obvious reason!
I know the valve guide seals are worn, but don't believe so much oil can goes because of seals.
Otherwise, I filled cylinder with airplane fuel(don't know how it's called) and noticed for about an hour it goes through the piston and rings.
Is it possible to be a blocked oil ring and/or worn? Bike haven't lost any power-runs great :? Any suggestions?

Cheers!

There is a reed valve behind the clutch cover. Inspect for damage or grit which may hold it open every 100 hours.

If the reed valve is damaged it will smoke terribly but will do no harm to the motor other than burn excess oil.

If it suddenly began smoking this would be my first guess.

Does it have the engine breather connected to the airbox? If so has it fallen over recently on the left side? Oil comes out the breather into the airbox & in with the air.

Also be careful filling the cylinder with fuel. If you get much fuel past the piston (& you will) & then run it the fuel dilutes the oil & stops it lubricating so good.

If you dilute the oil then make sure you drain it, kick the engine over a bit to guarantee you've pushed all the fuel out of the crancase through the reed valve. Redrain the sump & refill with fresh oil.

Thanks for all!

Husabutt what is the function of this reed valve? I haven't understood so far, can't find proper translation  I'll open it now.

BundyBear the breather hose goes down not to the airbox, I drained the oil before filling with fuel

Checked the reed valve seems pretty well, little bit of grit I cleaned.

The reed valve allows oil to flow from the crankshaft to the clutch in one direction only.

Thanks Husabutt, I sow how it works and it was OK. Anyway it still smokes

I opened and sow:

Valveguide seals are completely gone, both exhaust and intake!
Also piston and oil rings have more than a millimeter tolerances!
Macke was right, seems all these things I have to change.
Don't know how much hours has the bike, but I stay too much "under" it!

Regards!

imagine a guy that has a husaberg and same problem with yours.
then this guy sees that reed valve is broken-oil rings worn-valve seals worn just like yours.
then this guy changes all these things+ buys a new piston and his berg still smoking
that was me, i had this prob for 6 months before i figure out that the new piston i got was faulty :(

i hope your rebuild goes fine

Soon I will be facing the same repairs, anything I need to have extra attention for?
The bike belongs to a friend of mine (read post about the cracked FE400). This one also started to smoke badly, we estimate the hours to be 150+ so all in all it is about time. The cam chain was stretched so far that it started to cut the waterpump canal in the cylinder!!

damn!!! valves are worn too! Should I expect something else in this connection?
