hi lads
im having problems getting a decent pressure at the clutch lever.ive read through most of the forum about bleeding the clutch and have tried most of it.the clutch works but the adjuster has to be screwed fully in to give me a bite about 15 mm from the bar and there is about 25mm of free play.have taken the slave off to find the o ring .is it the one between the slave and engine about 50mm in diameter or am i missing something.cant see why this o ring will make a difference. bike is a 02 fc 550 any help would be great. cheers

yes it's a really thin 'O' ring around the massive piston in the slave. this goes. the adjuster is simply reacting to the clutch system not working properly.

Hi
I had a similar issue with my VOR 530, I ended up fitting a new seal kit to the master cylinder, this fixed it, the kit was around the $65 Australian and is easy to fit
The VOR used the same size hydraulic clutch as my 06 550 berg
Make sure you get the correct size seal kit, the size is usually stamped under the master cylinder, mine is 9.5
best of luck

Hi davew
The o ring you're talking about is just the outer seal ring to keep dirt out of the slave.
As Taffy says there's an o ring around the outside of the actual piston in the slave as well.
Can you see any sign of fluid leakage around the slave?
If not, I would prolly go with Timmy's suggestion and suspect the master cylinder.

took slave off and found fluid so should imagine this is the problem as you lads have said.going to fit new o ring around piston.is it a case of changing o ring bolting back on and bleeding through with seringe.nothing funny to be aware of?

No that's about it.
Take it apart and check the piston and housing for any wear. Should have no ridges or scratches or anything.
I have heard of a couple of cases where the push rod spins the piston and wears them out but this would be rare.

hi
anybody out there have an oulet for the slave cylinder o rings.dcr are saying they dont supply just the o rings so would have to buy the complete cylinder.am waiting for a price off thembut wont be 50p which is probably the price of the oring.

measure it up for me? i'll see if it comes in a gasket set?

hi taffy
The size of the o ring is 1.6mm thick inside diameter is 29mm outside 32mm.have only dealt with dcr before so will give midwest racing a call to see if they can supply just the ring.thanks for the help taffy

well i was supplied with 2 in a gasket set by the look of it, this tells me that they may be the two o rings from the oil filter housing!

i can send one to you and you can try it.

PM me your address?

regards

Taffy
