hello everyone , just got my fisrt berg a lovely fx470 , but i noticed when i followed my mate on it that it smoked a bit as the bike reved out and when you start it from cold it will smoke a bit when reving it (black smoke ) , its also a pig to start when hot , i have changed the plug for a irridium one and thats about it ,the old plug was quite black too , any help appreciated
I am not an expert but it seems to me you are running too rich. Puit your carb settings up so someone can help
Good indication when the bike is a pig to start when hot, jetting set to rich or possibly worn parts, needle, atomiser, check float height and needle valve for wear.

as per above but check the water by taking the cap off, fill with coolant, get the engine running to see if you get bubbles in the water. otherwise i have to say that they don't smoke and you have some troubles somewhere!
your bike is now quite old and 470s are fragging everywhere i'm afraid. they need rebuilds! they run MX gearing and rev so they need rebuilds!!!!!
